Local guidelines have been produced for the use of non-subcutaneous medicines in palliative care patients.

Refer to the guidelines for specific patient and carer criteria and the recommended treatment options.

The Palliative Care service information has been updated in line with End if life guidance for Covid 19. An amendment covers increased stock levels and other drugs required to support palliative care in patients with Covid-19.

The palliative care drug access scheme, provided by community pharmacy, has been reviewed.
The MCG and the Primary Care Commissioining Committee have approved the information document (below) and the associated service specification that is available from your local CCG

Palliative care guidelines, produced by the Surrey West Sussex & Hampshire Cancer Network are available to order on line at www.despatch365.com/palliative or telephone 08448540898 at £6/copy. These guidelines pre-date the publication of recent NICE guidance on the use of Strong Opiods in adult palliative care but were based on the same body of available evidence. Both publications were aimied at generalists not specialists in palliztive care whose practice us guided by a wide range of specialist guidelines in addition to NICE (Information supplied by De LeBon, Lead Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine at Frimley Park Hospital)
