This sildenafil formulation (orodispersible film) has not yet been assessed for formulary status and is not currently on the APC work-plan.

It has not yet been evaluated by the Surrey Heartlands ICS Area Prescribing Committee (APC).  As such, advice regarding safety, effectiveness (including cost-effectiveness) and its place in therapy is yet to be determined. 

Before prescribing this drug, it is recommended that clinicians contact their Medicines Optimisation team to discuss possible alternatives/options.

The APC will consider recommending the prescribing of this treatment upon submission of a formal request with its associated evidence. Clinicians can contact syheartlandsicb.APC@nhs.net  if they wish to make a submission.

The Surrey Heartlands APC have updated the recommended treatment options for erectile dysfunction.

Sildenafil remains a preferred treatment option.

Combination treatments (oral & non oral)
These treatments should not be used in combination with other treatments for erectile dysfunction due to the limited evidence available to support their use.
