Low risk pregnancies

Folic acid 400micrograms once daily should be recommended to women before conception and until week 12 of pregnancy for those at low risk of having a baby with neural tube defect.   Folic acid supplements should be purchased . For eligible women (who are at least 10 weeks pregnant) supplements are available through the 'Healthy Start Scheme' : https://www.healthystart.nhs.uk/

GWCCG LOCAL DECISION - The MOG agreed that in line with current recommendations: Folic acid 400mcg once daily should be recommended to women before conception and until week 12 of pregnancy (women at low risk for the prevention of neural tube defect). Folic acid (400mcg) can be purchased . For eligible women (who are at least 10 weeks pregnant) supplements are available through the 'Healthy Start Scheme' : https://www.healthystart.nhs.uk/
