A fixed combination treatment (e.g. adapalene with topical benzoyl peroxide) is recommended as maintenance treatment for acne. Only consider monotherapy with adapalene if preferred treatment is not tolerated or contraindicated. As per NICE NG198

NICE recommend that clindamycin is used within a fixed combination product - topical benzoyl peroxide with clindamycin

Topical erythromycin (either alone or in combination with oral antibiotics) is a NICE "DO NOT USE". Risk of resistance with topical use.

NICE is unable to make a recommendation because the company has not provided an evidence submission. NICE therefore terminated its appraisal and as such, advice regarding safety, effectiveness (including cost-effectiveness) and its place in therapy is yet to be determined.
Before prescribing this drug it is recommended that clinicians contact their Medicines Optimisation team to discuss possible alternatives/options.
